I spent 5 days in Dubai to avoid a long wait at the airport on my way to Thailand....what a great decision that was!

Dubai has a population of 2.5 million people, 85% of whom live there are immigrants due to foreign workers. The growth of the country is dependant on skilled people as the country will not be able to depend on the oil industry in 10 years so commercial growth is vital for survival.

Dubai has aprox 20 days rain a year and the temperatures soared to 115 while I visited. I only had a short time to explore so visited the old Dubai for some culture before heading on a dessert safari, which was fantastic, especially the change to ride a quad in the dunes. I then took a romantic night cruise (alone) and had the chance to see Dubai by night.

A great place to visit and I definitely will re-visit, probably on my way back to Thailand.
