Hello again...apparently I couldn't just get away with my token blog. However I'm sure that all 6 people who read this blog (is that a fair guess??) have been crying out for the welsh style of writing again - so here it is!
Sukothai is basically like Ayutthaya but a bit bigger, and then split into a new town and old town, which are conveniently 15km apart.
The old town is made up of a scenic historical park, containing yet more ruins of temples (slightly better preserved than those in Ayutthaya), numerous small lakes and various areas of trees and greenery. As you may have guessed, we are pretty fed up of temples; where they can be quite spectacular yes, there is only so much Buddha's and architecture one can enjoy looking at. However the bike ride around the park was a bit of alright, and more so to Sara's delight, we probably lost a stone in sweat! Nice.
The new town is where we were located for our two night duration - in a hostel which had the feel of a log cabin inside. Although pretty cool, this didn't matter much to me, I was just more interested in the free breakfast! What did bother me though was due to translation difficulties, we lost out on 90 baht (almost £2!).
Only thing of note in the new town, was at night, for some reason unknown to me, a couple of the streets were just lined with birds (the flying kind rather than the female version unfortunately). Other than it was pretty much in line with other towns, where there are various food stalls and markets. Oh and Sara got to see her beloved Man United which I managed to tolerate just to keep peace!
Anyway this was the last stop in northern Thailand before we made the great journey south. This involved a tuk tuk and bus to Phitsanulok, an over night train to Bangkok (a top bunk each this time!) and a flight to Trang. All that is missing there to complete the set is transport by sea, and given that we are now island hopping, we wouldn't have to wait long for that!
So not too much excitement to report this time, but I know there is a lot more gripping stuff coming up in the next one! Anyway until next time, tara x

Julie I feel really sorry for you Bryan, having to sit throught a whole football match! I can't think of anything more boring, especially if Man U were playing. The birds at night by the way are out looking for mosquitoes to eat but they must be a bit picky about the streets that they line! Can't wait to see pics of the beaches. Take care. X
Auntie Jan Wow! I wouldn't want you to miss Man Utd and Gary will be very pleased to know that you are still supporting from afar! A great read! Well done for taking time to keep all of us back here entertained. Go forth and enjoy life!
Julie What is a tuk tuk?
saraakhtar They're called rickshaws in pakistan. Remember those moped things with a passenger carriage attached to them?
Abu Trying hard to persuade your Ma to start our gap year. You guys are making it sound like too much fun.
Mo Yes Abu that sounds like a great idea. I assume you can drive to Thailand?
