There are two exciting pieces of news to update you all with. The first is that I have moved into my own room now and the second is that I have a job starting on Monday!
My new house is closer to town than Kirsti's appartment and is in a big bungalow in a family-friendly suburb so it's nice and safe! It's close to a small shopping centre with a supermarket, post office, banks, restaurants and a helpful 24hour McDonalds with free WiFi as well as the gym and then it's a 10-15 minute bus trip into the centre of town. I share my house with a bonkers woman called Lyn and her 27 year old son, David. It's an excellent deal as she's provided a furnished room (hard to comeby in Canberra) and even cooks my evening meal for me. I just have to provide a bit of company and pay my rent! She's looking after me well.
The new job is as a personal assistant/general dogsbody for the Compliance and Admin Manager at the big company that provides Canberra with it's gas, electricity and water as well some telecommunications. I don't really know what it entails and it's only for three months to begin with but the pay is really good and it'll be nice to get working and meet some more people. My funds are beginning to look a little pathetic so it's come just in time. Luckily it's near my house, just a 10 minute bus ride so I don't need to get up too early!
There's not much other news I'm afraid. I have been being a tourist and have visited the zoo and aquarium, the parliament zone and the war memorial. All of which were very impressive. There are lots of photos on Facebook. I've also joined the gym and been part of a victorious pub quiz team so all is going well.
I will post again soon when I've started work...

Catherine My goodness, you've been busy. Have you got an Australian accent yet? It all sounds really lovely. Well done!
Di Halliday We've been having our own celebrations here and sorry to say have lost contact with all that you are doing. Well done in getting settled in in Canberra. Hope you really enjoy your life there - and elsewhere in Oz. Lots of love. Di
