After almost 3 weeks I'm so sad to be leaving my amigos in Laos! We've had the best time ever and my trip wouldn't have been the same without them and the other incredible people that have joined us on our journey.
It's 6pm and I'm writing this in the minibus about to leave Luang Prabang and journey to Thailand for 20 hours. The last week has been amazing.
We stayed in the capital city for just one night which was enough as there wasn't a lot to do there. We made a new friend and our group become 7 and went on a bike ride looking for places to go. We ended up at the Cope centre a place which helps people who have lost limbs due to the war and the bombs. Really interesting to find out some more history about the country.
In Vang Vieng we visited caves with a 6 year old tour guide! Serious he was 6! The kid was awesome. Took us up a mountain and into these caves like a pro. He kicked a cow and ran like the wind Hahaa crazy child!
We got lost in a cave also. Decided to climb the giant boulders bare foot. Propa mission. Thought I was in a horror film. We hired bikes and motorbikes (I was only on the back ha) and whizzed around the place. Such beautiful scenery and the feel of being free in nature! For some reason Vang Vieng loved Friends the tv show and it was on the screens in almost every restaurant. We would find a restaurant with low tables and beds and lie down watching friends and eating ha! Fabulous.
In Luang Prabang we got reunited with the other half of our crew and had some more people join our gang. We came to the conclusion that we must be awesome people and attract other awesome people too haha!!! We visited incredible water falls and swam in the ice cold water! The waterfall place had a bear sanctuary which had bears that had been saved from poachers. Very cool place.
Ahhh almost forgot!! We arrived in Luang Prabang at 4:30am and we're hanging around and ended up going to the Monks Alm ceremony. We sat on the floor and bought some offerings and 100 monks came out at 6am in a line and we gave them rice or snacks. It was such a strange experience!! One morning I got up really early and went to yoga by the Mekong River - sooo gooood! Needed the stretch!
Laos was the major beautiful country and I really loved exploring the place! One different thing about the roads in Laos is that they have the addition of cows to the road who take their time to move out your way Hahaa so funny.
I'm writing this now over the Thailand border and I'm still on the busss! Well another bus but still heading to the same place. The journey was awful and I have the worst backache. The guy must have thought he was a rally driver bouncing over the pot holes or something - jheeeeze! Literally got no sleep.
The most funny thing happened though! I went to the toilet at one of the stops which was closed then the bus driver took me to this guesthouse which was clearly under construction. He woke up the people sleeping outside and told them I'm going to the toilet in the first room. Dont think I locked myself in the toilet hahahaa I was shouting Sabadeeee - Helllooo for ages Hahaa. The English guy on the bus heard me and came to see and went and got someone. They really wernt happy about it hahaa.
So far Thailand is greeeen and the sun is coming out! About time! I was freeeezing last night! Don't know how i'll cope back in England! One more bus to go after this bus and il be in Pai - Yayyyy!
