I'm going to skip my Malaysia posts as I'm struggling to catch up but il try and write them and post them when I get chance. For now I need to talk about Singapore.
Where do I start? Maybe that it's the cleanest city I've ever been too? Or maybe that it's like living in the future where everything makes sense? Or maybe it's just that it's simply amazing?!
I didn't think when I arrived in Singapore that I would fall in love. We arrived by bus and we're dropped off at the bus stop. First thing we realised was that it was actually Singapore birthday so we googled and found out that there were events happening that evening. We checked in our hostel and got the metro down to China town to explore before we went to find a spot to watch the fireworks. Of course Chinatown has free wifi for all! We wandered the streets and found a food hall. I went for roast chicken on rice and Taylor had Haiwanese. Quite tasty to be honest. We were already prepared that it was going to cost more than anyone else so we're happy with our £4 meal.
Once we'd finished we went to find a spot to watch the fireworks as apparently it was going to be busy. The buildings were so tall and it felt so strange coming the other countries. Even Kuala Lumpur didn't prepare us. Here's us looking up at the building and we see these red things floating around the sky. Hello parachuters!! The events had begun so we quickened our pace and found a nice little green area where we could sit. It was already packed with people and luckily a couple gave us a mat to sit on ( grass makes me itch! ).
As the fireworks weren't until 8! We thought it would be best to get some food to sit with and found a Burger King on the map. Just thinking about going and we hear these explosions across the river - bear in mind the events are actually paid for by a lot of people and we can see thousands of them sat on the other side enjoying whatever was going on. Next thing that happens are these giant fighter planes fly in and everyone's like "ooo". All of a sudden we heard this loud screech approaching and everyone's looking up at the sky. About 5 fighter jets swoop above or heads and start doing tricks in the air. It was sooo loud!!!! We read that they were staging a terrorist attack to show the audience (who had paid) how they deal with threats. Literally amazing. The evening ended with a 300 drone light show - amazing - and fireworks! A great first day in Singapore!
Our 2nd day was Taylor's birthday :D We had Pizza Hut for lunch but ordered a set with soup and pasta. Was yummmy!
I booked us into a go ape place for the afternoon and it was so much fun. The Tarzan jump was mad but we enjoyed it. I didn't think it would be so tiring but it took about 2.5 hours to get around the course. In the evening we went to the Gardens by the Bay and caught the last part of the light show. What a magical place! I didn't want to leave. After lounging around staring at the trees we headed for Marina Bay Sands hotel. I've never been in a crazier place before. First we went to the island on top of the 3 sky scrapers! The view was beautiful!! By that point we were starving and needed food and went to the food court. The place is so massive. Imagine that it has a river flowing through the middle of the mall and IMAGINE that this river has boats on hahaaa absolutely crazy. For dinner we ended up at Clarke Quay and had fish and chips <3
We loved Singapore so much! Like it's actually so cool! Really clean and everything works well.
Singapore surprised us one more time by having the best airport in the world! Like come on now?! It has a butterfly garden inside the airport! It has gardens and a cinema andddd free foot massages! Sooo magic.
We love you Singapore <3
