Ah yes. Your photos bring back memories. The Plaza San Fran (I think it was called). Some policemen there were kind of shady. Asking me how much my camera costs. Don't know if they were casing it out to bump me off! I said it was a gift and had no idea. And the Jesus statue on the hill. Took a cab ride up there (do not walk up there as it goes thru bad part of town. Other road warriors did it and were freaked out scared.) And I went mtn biking and hiking in the mountains. AHHHH!
Make sure you and Kev go to the big church there (I can't remember the name of it) and don't miss going to the top of it. Great views and very cool to get close up to the gargoyles, angels etc. It is Convento de something and is the biggest church in Quito. It's kind of in nowhere land between the old town and the tourist section.
