We have made the trip from Alice Springs to Mataranka, via a night of free camping at Attack Creek and a night at Daly Waters historic pub. Daly Waters pub was heaps of fun, it was as Aussie as you can get! All that's there is basically a tin shed and heaps of room to camp. What a fantastic place Alice Springs is! We arrived with the intention of staying 3 nights and ended up extending our stay by a further 2 nights. Friday was spent restocking our food supplies, it was so nice to get good fresh fruit and veg (the simple things you miss when in a remote area). Hi all, We have just arrived in Alice Springs from a great trip out to Kings Canyon. Had an amazing time there and found the most expensive fuel of our trip so far at $2.35 per litre! Far out! The canyon was lovely, probably one of our favorite places so far. Unfortunately when we were there it was incredibly windy, so decided against doing the ridge walk as we didn't want the kids to blow off the edge! We made it to the NT! Had a great (long) drive in from Coober Pedy on Sunday. Spent pretty much the entire day in the car racking up the km's but also seeing heaps of incredible things along the way. Here was I thinking that the landscape would be desolate and unchanging, but it varied so much, from the lunar scape out of Coober Pedy, to areas which had large amounts of spinifex grass, mulga bushes and desert oaks.
