Wow! What a spectacular ending to our 3 days in Halong Bay! We have been blown away by the beauty of these endless islands which are similar, yet so different. We feel so fortunate to have been on the 3 day cruise which got us away from the crowds of people on shorter cruises and into a serene environment where we saw only a few other boats and were able to experience the serenity of these karsts which emerge from the sea in varying shapes and sizes. After a great day of being rowed into a small fishing village by the local people and sharing tea with them, to a wonderful afternoon paddling our kayaks through the islands and into convoluted limestone caves, and then the "piece de resistance" - dinner in one of the most beautiful caves we have ever seen (and I will feel eternally guilty by not wanting to go because I was cold and tired and I whined about going!). The show the crew put on was spectacular from the setting in this gorgeous cave which was beautifully and romantically lit, to the amazing food which they turned out on a small barbecue out the back door of the cave. The bar was well stocked and the white glove service beyond our wildest expectations! It was an amazing ending to a great experience with 18 other great people from all over who bonded very quickly and all got along beautifully. Truly, one of our best experiences! What a great way to end our month in Vietnam!

Andrea Hi Sandi & Ron, How fortunate that you were able to see these islands. When we were on our cruise our ship's captain was given special permission to sail through these wonderful islands. A very rare occurrence and we traveled through at a snails pace. Our pictures are similar to yours because of the misty, mysterious feel. How lucky that you were able to have a closer look. We're quite enjoying your blog.
