Shanghai - what a contrast to the last places we have been! Much of this city has been constructed in the last 10 - 20 years and there is some stunning architecture. But they have also maintained some of the old buildings in a vibrant market area and a beautiful traditional garden called Yuyuan Garden which dates from the 1500's.

We are staying in a private condo (which we found on the internet). It was quite an adventure to find it last night, as by the time we got off the metro from the airport it was dark. We had to walk on an unlit winding path through some residential buildings, emerge on a main road and then make our way through another maze of buildings in the dark to find this place. Fortunately, a young woman took pity on us and showed us the way. Otherwise we would still be wandering around lost! The condo, once we got here, is great. We have a kitchen, living and dining room and bedroom, all very modern and spotlessly clean - and free wifi. Amazing!
