More monasteries and Buddhist sacred sites today as well as more festival. We visited three temples today as well as a sacred site. The sacred site was a deep pool where a miracle occured. It was rife with prayer flags and was also the site where many people have left the remains of bodies once they are cremated. After cremation, the remains are formed into little cone shapes and people leave them auspicious places. The pool in the river we went to was a very auspicous place as shown by the number of these small cones (and the number of prayer flags) left there.
In the afternoon we returned to the festival for more dances. This time it was refreshing to see that the locals outnumbered the tourists. After the festival we visited the most expensive hotel in the area which is part of the Asam group of hotels out of Singapore. A room in this hotel is $1000 per night. They have 60 rooms and were sold out!! We couldn't really see what the attraction was, but did enjoy having a drink in their bar.
When we returned to our hotel, Ron decided to have a shave and shower. It turned out to be by brail, as the electricity routinely seems to go off between 5:00 and 7:00pm. Perhaps if we had paid the $1000 per night we wouldn't have this problem!
