What started out as a dream is now a reality. An abstract concept is now a floating reality - the houseboat. But in between was a whole lot of blood, sweat, shouting matches and enough profanties to keep the French Foreign Legion in the swearing credit for years to come! But like obtaining all dreams, it was a hell of an adventure! I think that all involved would agree with that!
//Xubaa set sail in March and continues to get better and better. And we got to spend a fantastic night on her with Nic, Sam and Mike.
Stories swapped, bulls*** told long into the night. We haven't laughed like that with them in ages. But it was a close run thing……
The day before, Nic's phone rung and rung and rung and rung…….not just once, but for most of the day! Would we actually see these friends of ours? It was one of the main reasons for heading into Bots. With directions from Craig, we might have a chance of seeing Nic and Sam. With no answer from Nic, it looked like we would have to go to plan B….head all the way to Maun. But what is travelling, without rolling with the punches?
Heading to the border through the Magango National Park and an awesome sighting of a huge sable antelope for good measure, we headed for Drostky's Cabins….an institution in this part of Botswana and also our fall back if we didn't find the houseboat first time.
"Where have you been? We have been murdering bream here on the boat! It is so lekka!"
Why answer a phone when you can fish out here to your heart's content. When we got to the boat and headed quite literally into the sunset, I wouldn't bother answering the phone either!
