Honestly there is NO work here for the next few weeks. I hate being unemployed, daytime tv is even worse here as most of its australian. terrible. I have applied to several agencies and hotels and cafes and anything else i could find.
I can deal with the cold, but you know how warm our houses are in the winter nan keeps the heating on full all the time... and its great to come into when your cold. But here they dont have heating really, except for punny little heaters and the occassional log fire.
I have never been to a place that is so seasonal, it is so dead now, but apparently it will get packed in a coupple of weeks when the ski slopes open. you are indeed right sean the haka does mention the sun. In fact the translation into english is highly funny.... something about a hairy man!! and i would also agree that the all blacks version is pretty poor compared to the maori warriors! i cannot believe the lions already drew against argentina (i think!) the kiwis are celebrating already, they dont need much encouragement.... on tv they are already slating the uk! the barmy army they call us... So they better get their act together or it will be so embarasing!
You know at the moment manager 2 even if it was fake would probably get me home! that was such a wicked game, we used to play it sooooo much, as well as boxing manager and that game where you could make your own team... we had sammy city! also i remember when me and sean totally kicked toms butt on red alert.... you had a cheat to make extra gun men and me and sean were just to good and already built tanks and just ran over your men!!! HAHAHA!! I will be home pretty soon now... only 3 months in NZ i cant wait to get to figi... hooraay for warm places. i have an address..... poste restante, queenstown, new zealand.....great to here from you all
Mark

Sean
Oh just to clear a few things up i done a little research...the water does rotate in the drain in different directions in the northern versus the southern hemispheres. It happens much of the time, but not all of the time. And the haka mentions the 'sun shines' twice in the war chant, and i still giggle like a school girl when watching it. HUMPH!!!
lol j/p
Sean

Merv
it just goes to show you should read what you type before you post it! Sorry Sean if I sounded a bit harsh there!
Nanny
your mum told you about London, but I managed to get her back although she showed me up all around London. We went to see Vicki's final exam production last night. It was brilliant, especially the bits she was in. Tina and Marian came to see it.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All the teachers were full of praise for the show because vic and dani main had done most of the work because the teacher was not well. they even got taran and co. to dance a duet.It went well and vicki was well pleased. Grandad says hi! he's busy scratching. anyway bye for now. keep us up to date on your adventures xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Mark
hi....just to put you all straight- I cant argue with sam about the water 'going down the wrong way' -if thats what she realy saw - but check again sam, because as i understood it is a myth- it actually goes down the same in both hemispheres !great to here about the glacier trip - were both jealous and proud of you!just about to phone you now as tour on the bus to milford
Sam
Hello!!!kia ora yep sean im probably going to see the all blacks and their sundance!!! The water does go the other way... it amused me for about 10 seconds! Yep we are 11 hours ahead of you slowcoaches! We were the 1st people in the world into the newyear! What are you up to at the moment sean? i havent seen you in ages.... well i havent seen any one in ages actually!
Im currently in queenstown Where i will be staying for the rest of my time probably. Its very cool here, beautiful and quite lively. You can do practically any activity here. Today i went jetboating, tomorrow im going to milford sound.
I will post some pics here when i have got myself sorted and have a job. i have only 3 and half months in NZ! Its really cold here and its not even winter yet! its autumny and beautiful colours. The lake is stunning with the mountains surrounding it. They are just getting snowtopped. I cant remember if i wrote on here about the heli hike on the glacier i did in franz josef... but it was absolutely awesome. Superb one of the best things i have ever done. The caves in the ice are amazing... we also saw the southern lights there... they only lasted a few mins... and only 4 of us saw it.. but it was amazing. k bye for now hope your all sweet as!!
Merv
Sam may not be around, but I can tell you it's not a Sun Dance! It's called a Haka, and it's a traditional warriors challenge. It may look funny, but it's deadly serious and disrespectful to their culture to laugh at it. When you're actually faced by a Maori warrior performing this, it's actually very intimidating.
