Bangkok - 2nd time
We had a bit of a nightmare time travelling from phi phi back to bangkok. Thought we'd spend a it more and get a flight, for the sake of convinience. Actually it took us longer than it would have done to get a coach. However, after a very delayed flight, Rach and I finally made it to khao San Road, where we met up with Tim and his brother Simon, who were already well into their 2nd 'bucket'. Rach and I managed to catch up fairly quickly after attacking the Changs and we had a good night.
The next day, when the Changovers were well and truly kicking in, we decided to try the hot and bustling weekend market that Bangkok boasts. Bit of a mistake! After about half an hour we were all feeling the hangover effects and decided to call it a day and head back to the pool. Met up with Al that night (who had parted company with ralf for the first time in weeks) - though after the night before none of us were up or much drinking.
We decided to have a more productive day the next day and went to see the city palace. The palace itself was awesome. ANnoyingly you had to wear long trousers etc and cover up - them and their bloody respectful worship eh?! Rach and I borrowed some long skirts from the palace entrance. I ended up looking like a bit of a chav in my long skirt and trainer combo - not very attractive!
To celebrate all our hard work, we decided to all get a facial. Needless to say it was the boys who seemed to enjoy it the most. Especially mr facial himself - Al. Check out the photos when I finally upload them.
That night after an awesome meal at the Oriental hotel to celebrate Tim's birthday, we headed back to Pat Pong, so Tim and Simon could experience the sex show! Was even more painful to watch this time. Especially so for Simon who almost got hit in the face by a banana that one of the girls launched. I'll say no more! After the most scary tuk tuk ride of my life, we eventually made it back to the hotel.
On our final day Al, Simon and I did the Kanchanaburi trip to see the bridge over the river kwai. Rach did another trip and Tim decided to stay and relax by the pool - very wise I think! Found a lot of the day very sad and emotional - especially seeing all the graves. The bridge itself was amazing. We managed to fit an elephant ride and a bamboo raft river trip into the day too. Went out that night for a final drunken night out. We managed to find this quality irish bar which had a live band playing - lots of good music - well my taste anyway. Then back to the all night bar, where they serve you beer in coffee mugs - so the police dont catch on - depaite them sititing on the table next to us whilst we downed our 'coffee' everytime someone lost a game of fingers!
Had a great time in bangkok the 2nd time round. Up to northen thailand next, whilst Tim and his brother are off to the islands.
