Well the last couple of weeks have been a bit of a blur, so please forgive me for the late update and the fact I can't really remember everything we have done. Anyway, the best bit of Loas was certainly the tubing. Tubing consists of floating down the river for about 5 hours in a big old rubber ring (see the pics). The genius about it is the numerous 'bars' along the river that you stop at along the way for a beer and whatever else takes your fancy. Most stops also have a zip line, or swing that you can hurl yourself into the water from, unflatteringly in my case. We did the tubing with a guy called Dan (who we had been travelling with for a bit) a firefighter from NYC - with the accent n all! and a guy called Liam who we met that morning. Needless to say that it was a very funny day, but quite surreal looking back on it now. It left us all a complete mess for the next day or so.
The only other thing I think worth mentioning was the odd all night 'Temple' party we went to. It for Loas people to raise money for the Temple, but was actually full of travellers and turned into a small scale full moon party. We got in the mix on the dancefloor with the locals and showed them our moves - not very impressive I know. All of a sudden, the dancefloor seemed to disperse and a march started out of nowhere. I was handed a candle and bundled into the crowd. I'm hoping it wasn't some sort of pro-communism march (the thought makes me shudder) but since no one spoke much English I decided to go along for the ride anyway. Then back for some more dancing and Loas beer later.
