A third of the way
Doha, Qatar
Here we are! The first post to what I am hoping will be an amazing two months away.
A good portion of Sheffield 4th year med students set off from Manchester at 14:45 yesterday arriving in Qatar 7 hours and lots of movies later. And so I am writing this post from a very new and shiny Doha Airport, which apparently only re-opend last week! We decided to spend our 7 hours in some luxury and have spent the $40 required to be allowed in the executive Oryx Lounge. Safe to say lizzie, jo and myself are making a good attempt on getting our moneys worth from the food and drink provided.
We depart from Qatar at 7am local time for a further 8 hours in the air, albeit in comfort and most importantly some semblance of leg room. We should hopefully get our first taste of Malaysia spending a night in the Reggae Mansion Hostel in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow evening which apparently has an excellent bar and pool on the roof. We'll try and force ourselves to find out if this is true!
The final part of the journey is a third flight from KL to Kota Kinabalu for myself and to Kuching for Lizzie and Bowers arriving Monday afternoon in time for starting our placements in Borneo. Hopefully the next post should be coming upon arrival to Borneo! I'll upload the first photos as soon as I get the chance.
Right, I'm off to attempt some form of sleep... after another plate of food
