hello all! now to tell you about our fun times in the south island of new zealand.
firstly we flew into christchurch which was sooo cold-yes colder then home believe it or not! anyway, we didnt do much there just got our act together and started to think about how to go around the island.
we went onto kaikora which was beautiful the views were amazing, we went on a 11km walk around the penninsular which involved beating the tide and clambering on rocks(all sorts) was very good fun though. also whilst we were there we found another tent! since our one was a summer one and the one which was left was a all season one we had to swap them! and oh my word the difference was great (lovely and warm). also in kaikora we saw wild dolphins and seals with there cubs-sooo cute!! one of them came up to sammy and i and smelt us (not that we smell nice at all).
then onto nelson, meant to be the sunniest place in new zealand (not!!) the whole time we were there it was overcast and rained! anyway we had a dry spell so decided to wal;k up to the centre of new zealand, was quite cool! and the hostel where we were staying had teepees so we stayed in one of them which was cool (better then setting up a tent).
then onto greymouth, not a lot going on but the hostel where we were staying had a free bakery everyday at 4pm cakes the lots! we didnt use any of our food just had the free food fab! also they had baths!!! with free bubble bath!! AMAZING!!! felt sooo clean! and then we just wondered around a bit not really doing anything lol.
then down to franz josef where the glaciers are. we went for another walk to the glacier and took some cool photos of it, looked very strange in the middle of a rain forest (and that it did-rain all the time)
then we went to queenstown where we are now! spend the 1st day worrying about our bungy jump the next day, then yesterday we did it! we did the nevis bungy 134metres over an amazing view (not that we paid any attention to it when we were on the platform!) it was so much fun we are still buzzing from it and feel fearless! it has to be the most terrifying thing ever! but so worth it! so last night we had to go out and celebrate our jumps and had cocktails out of teapots (strange i know) and had a very good night out! today we have just been watching our dvds and doing this. tomorrow we are off the dunedin and then onto lake takapo then back to christchurch, auckland then to fiji! cant wait! will put up photos of the south island soon,
lots love and hugs Rachel and Sammy xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
