Hi Everyone
This is the final stop on my travels of the past year and a half. It feels strange to think I have been away for so long as sometimes it feels that it has flown by but at other times it has gone slower.
I arrived in Singapore after a rather bumpy flight and realised that even after coming this far I still hate flying. I got chatting to a guy next to me as we bonded after gagging from the really smelly man sitting next to us. We caught a cab into the centre and as so often happens when you are travelling, a random meeting leads you to then hang out with the person for a couple of days. Anyway this was good as it meant my last night was spent in the Chinatown area of Singapore eating pork and flourskin (the skin of flour apparently) and enjoying Tiger beer.
My companion turned out to be a techno DJ from Cairns called DJ Martian and was quite a character who is the only Australian that I have ever met who has actually been bitten by snakes, venemous spiders, stingers, sharks etc. and has all the scars to prove it. I knew there was no way you can have that many dangerous creatures in one place without there being some risks.
On my final day I spent it browsing around the shops, art gallery and checking out the very tasteful Christmas decorations in the city. Then I was finally off to Raffles for my lunch and a Singapore Sling in the Long Bar to toast the end of my journey. I was proud of myself for having done it and felt really lucky to be able to have had such amazing experiences and have met so many great people along the way.
Hope you all enjoyed hearing about my trip and can't wait to catch up with many of you at Christmas and the new year.
Love
Samantha
