....At the very beginning
From Holmfirth to Bangkok... here I am in the Thai capital and the travels commence....
Things to note so far:
- When it takes you over an hour to get through the immigration queue at Bangkok airport they stop showing which carosel you bag is on and it's very hard to track it down. When you finally locate said bag going round on it's own and run towards it like it were a lost child you get sympathetic winks from airort security staff.
- Bangkok is extremely hot and you definitely need air con. My hotel was having manintenance work done on their system over the exact three nights I'm here, but they moved me to a sister hotel up the road so that was a relief.
- It is wise to set up your blog before you leave home and learn how to upload photos onto it from the comfortable surroundings of your own home and trusty laptop as you are not allowed to get frustrated in Thailand and I'm in danger of throwing the computer out of the internet cafe window. And for the this reason all the photos so far are from the picture library. Probaly a good thing as mine aren't that exciting, but would at least prove I'm here.
Travelling alone is quite wierd I have to say, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. I hung out with a German guy today who I pounced on over breakfast - craving company after a pathetic 24 hour's solitude. But it was he who suggested we go off and explore so don't typecast me as a clingy backpacker just yet.
Very hungry after all the camera/computer related stress so off to grab a yummy plate of Thai cuisine for about a quid. That's all for now....
