Sally's Adventures in South East Asia
I have my two month Laos visa back and I am in Chiang Rai and I am supposed to take a bus to the border town, Chiang Kong and take a boat down the great Mekong river to Luang Prabang in Laos. However, I have a month left on my Thai visa and the Islands call..
I fly down on a cheap Asian budget flight to Bangkok and then on to Phukhet. Phukhet is Thailand's Benidorm and I only spent a night there before getting on a boat to Koh Lanta via Koh Phi Phi. Koh Lanta Island is breathakingly beautiful and the sunsets are amazing. I stay for a week on a beach in Koh Lanta - sunbathing, reading, relaxing and chilling out on little beach bars. I then get bored so decide to head to Krabi. I decide not to stay on mainland Krabi but a little Island off Krabi called Railey - beautiful. It is small, friendly, full of gibbon monkeys, caves and has one of the most famous beaches in Thailand - which is saying something - "Pra Nang". The scuba diving is amazing and I take a couple of trips to several pristine islands and snorkel. The best snorkelling was my trip around Phi Phi where I visited one of the most famous beaches in the world "Maya" which is a Thai national park. Maya is better known as "The Beach" in the film of the same name. Even after the Tsunami, The Beach lived up to all expectations and then some.
Whilst in Krabi, I also got to sea kayak in crystal clear water around and through caves and into lagoons - I stayed here for about three weeks - it was just so good I could not leave. Whilst here, I meet a very jolly American called Joshua who is also travelling to Laos. We decided to travel together. We flew up to Bangkok and then flew off to Luang Prabang (World Heritage Site City) in Laos...
