I stayed in Chaweng for the first few days, which is basically just like one of the Greek Islands. Took a ferry from Ko Samui to Ko phan Yan, which run every day about twice a day I think and really easy to book. As with all these ferrys and ports, theres always someone either on the boat or at the port offering accomadation and plenty of transort to get there.
