Sallys Worldwide Adventure
Vegasis so so crazy. I was there for 5 days and that was plenty, although I still didnt get to see everything.
I was staying off the strip on Freemont Street, I had heard that the area wasnt the nicest but i was the best hotel as itwas the only one with a pool. When I got off the greyhound bus I took a cab to the hostel and the driver told me not to go walking the streets on my own at night, I was like ok, and then he said your not gonna get attacked or anything justr that people might get the wrong idea so where your baggyist uglyist clothes if you do, and I was like ok, biut what are you going on about and then we drove past 2 prossys on the corner in like the middle of the afternoon. The area turned out to be ok, saw loads of dealers and prossys, but it wasnt scary, there was loads of police around most the time saw them arresting and searching a few people, and that was scarry seeing what weapons they were pulling off them.
From the hostel had to take a bus called 'The Duece' which runs up and down the strip 24hrs a day.
The strip is amazing. All the hotels and Casinos all try and give that little something extra, be one better than anyone else.
The 1st day arrived I met a couple of people at the hostel and that night we went to check out some of the free shows. Went to Casino Circus Circus where they give a free circus show, then to Treasure Island where they have to massive moving ships out side and do like a sing and dance with spesial effects and fire and stuff, then at the Mirage they have a fake volano which erupts and throws flames out, really cool.
Went to Arizona and went to the hoover Dam and The Grand Canyon, with a guy called Warwick from the hostel. It was a really long drive from Vegas I thought they were right next to each other but we ledt the hostel at 5.45 and didnt actually get to the canyon till 2.45. We went to the South Rim, our 1st stop was at Matthers Point and then bright angle creek. Its just so unbelievable massive that you cant appreciate it fully, there are long horned sheep that live on the cliff edges, they were really cute and montain lions, but I didnt see any of them. The weirest thing is that no one actually knows how it was formed. I really wanted to get to the bottom of it, but theres no way you can do it in a day. Its like a mile deep but takes 8 hours to get to the bottom and double that to climb back up!! Maybe next time!!!
At the end of our dodgy hostel strip there is like a mini strip called the Freemont Expereince, and every night they offer this amazing light show. The whole roof is curved and made out of plasa screens, and they do shows of things gfoing abovfe you and past you, it was really cool.
Spent a whole day nearly looking at all the casinos, and there are too many to mention. Theres one called the Luxor that is a massive pyramid with a shinx outside and at night it has the most powerfull light beem in world coming out the tip of it. New York New York is a built like a miniture Manhattan, Paris has an exact copy of the effil tower, but just 1/2 the size, The Vebtian is a coy of venice including a canal that runs thou the midle on the 2nd floor and you can take a gondala ride along it, and the celing is sky color and changes from dawn to dusk. The Mirage has a real tiger adn dolpins in it, the MGM Grand has Lions in it! Its just crazy.
But the very best thing about Vegas is that whe your sitting at a machine no matter how much your gambeling you get free drinks!!! What ever you like, the waitress just comes around and asks what you want and gets it for you, or you can do what we did and play the games at the bar and get free drinks consantaly. We soon worked out to put money in a play really slow till you'd milked all the free drinks and then move to another bar!
Bryan who I met in San Deigio and went to LA with was also in Vegas, so one night we met up with him
