Sair and Chris on the move

Port Macquarie - We enjoyed our stay in Port Macquarie - even though the weather was awful. We went to the Koala hospital that was fantastic. It was seriously like a normal hospital - wards, intensive care, special food! Was very touching! We got a nice fridge magnet from there as a reminder. I fell in love with one called Bonny Fire who had been rescued from a forrest fire. She had 4 pads on each of her legs so she is lucky to be here! She was adorable. As was anther called Lucky who got her name from being saved from the middle of the road as she is blind! Bless the staff though, they're all volunteers and do not get any funding from the government. They rely on donations from visitors to survive. That was a good day!
The rest of Port Macqarie was spent walking and getting wet. The rain stopped now and again but all in all the weather was pretty miserable to be honest.
We're currently Coffs Harbour which is a lovely place. We arrived on Tuesday in rain but since then the weather has been gorgeous! The bus journeys are pretty horrid though to be honest - not a good part of the trip!
Well, the hostel is OK here but to be honest it is only OK. It's a sorta party, clicky atmosphere but we only use it to sleep so it's ok. Now the weather is better we can enjoy the outdoors more so it's been ok. We have a private double room but it simply is a room with a bed in it and we also have a private bathroom which is such a good job. The level of hygiene is pretty low so it's a good job we've got the bathroom to ourselves. Anyway, enough of the moaning, last night was FANTASTIC (our 4year anniversary)! Firstly, we had a great day wander to Mutton Bird island to whale watch. It turned out to be more like our lune trail though as we didn't see any whales. hehehe! We then walked to the centre, walked around the shops and walked along the beach in the eveing. We didn't see another person on the beach so it was lovely! We then went to a lovely restaurant called the Waterfront and enjoyed a gorgeous meal. We had a duck pancake and camenbert (can't spell) to share for starters and then I had chicken with sweet potato mash and chris has steak wrapped in bacon with king prawns and creamy mash. And guess what we shared for dessert? Sticky toffee pudding! Chris was in heaven! It was lovely actually because it was Bring Your Own wine so we enjoyed the bottle we bought on the wine tour. It was a great day and a lovely finish!
Today, we've been on a 9km creek walk which was good. We saw lots of birds and went for a swim in an olympic pool (that was freezing). We swam 1km in total so check out the detox today! We then went back to Mutton Bird island and did see 1 whale! We also got talking to a lovely old English couple which was nice. They gave us lots of tips of places to visit so it was nice. We must have been chatting for about 30minutes!
Well, tonight is our last night in Coffs Harbour as we move onto Byron Bay tomorrow. Our bus is at 7am so we've got an early start but we will arrive in Byron at 12pm which is good! We've heard so many good reports on the place we are staying and about the place so we're looking forward to it. I must say, Coffs Harbour has been lovely though (except for the hostel).
