HI! Woke up early for breakfast on ship before setting out to Rome at 7:30am on chartered bus with tour guide. We visited many public fountains, churches and St. Peter's at the Vatican. Walked a lot! Lunch was a margarita pizza at a local cafe. My first taste of authentic Italian cuisine and it didnt disappoint! Our guide walked us through so many streets with a ton of info about the aquaduct system, Roman history, and architecture. She was brilliant and I really enjoyed the day. Now am back on ship and have to pack for a 3 day trip to Pompeii, Sorrento & Capri. I cant upload any of my pics until I am on land so I will try tomorrow-didnt have time today and there was no wi fi hot spot. We are anchored in the port of Civitavecchia and I learned it is the deepest port in Italy that's why there are so many huge ships here. We are only 45 min away from Rome. It has been quite a while since I have been in Rome and it was so great to see the famous sights again.

Sailing with Sandy My voyage was a wonderful experience. I recommend Semester at Sea for anyone who is interested in exploring new countries. The voyage was especially enjoyable because there were hundreds of college students to share classes with and to learn about different cultures. The students studies all over the ship! They were hard working and independent. I had such a great time on field trips as their enthusiasm was infectious and energizing! The professors were insightful and very good guides. The staff of the Odyssey were professional, cheerful and very helpful. This expereience will be cherished forever.
