Today was the last day of having the car. The trip from Bruges to Amsterdam was about 3 hours so we arrived in time for a late lunch at Café Kalkhoven. The café was about a 10 minute walk from the B&B and served the best cheeseburgers I have tasted. Before we got to the accommodation, we all praised Europcar and were soo grateful we booked our car with them as they drove us from their depot to the hotel. Today we toured the City of Bruges. What better way than though the canals. So many bridges and churches. Stan, as usual found lots of wild life and trinkets. Of course the highlight was an awesome lunch with some great beers while watching the canal life pass by. Very sad to leave Sankt Goar. What a wonderful place to base ourselves in for 5 amazing days!!!On to the next adventure.... Leaving Germany we travelled into Belgium and Bruges. Today began with a trip down towards Frankfurt to visit Joe and Anke. Joe played in the same band as Dave in the Hamburg Days. It was so enjoyable to visit a traditional German house and feel like we were living like a true German for the day. Today we traveled into Belgium to go to yet another track. We went via the Rheinfels Castle. It is the ruins of a castle built in 1245. It was only conquered once – by Napoléon and he had it blown up in 1796 to prevent it becoming a threat again.
