Carolyns Adventures
The hustle and bustle of main cities is back to haunt us. We have spent some time in the mountain city of Dalat, we did a jeep tour around the area. It is truly an amazing place, filled with lakes and waterfalls and very lovely landscape.
We visit a place called Chicken village, a small mountain village, no-one hear speaks English. One women shows us around, and through one of the houses, it's a house with a dirt floor and the entire family live here, most of the time in the same bed .. from grandmother, to son, to wife, to uncle. It's crazy, and it's not very romantic either!!! I buy some incense from here.
Ho Chi Minh city is exactly what I expected it to be, more motorbikes and more hassling from the tourist touts. I dont like it much here.
We will head to Cambodia somehow in the next couple of days. We have visited the famous Cu Chi Tunnels and that was a big eye-opener. 200km of tunnels built for the war, we get to clamber through 100m of them, scaled-up for tourists, I last only 60 m before I freak out and have to come up for air. It's amazing to think that the Vietnamese lived underground, there were hospitals and a lot of people were born under there.
The vietnamese call the war The American War, not the Vietnam War. It is a very dirty city and I feel totally uncomfortable here.
