We travelled up from Chiang Mai to a place called Tha Ton, tourist mecca of Northern Thailand!! We are staying at a great place called Thips Guest House, run by a lady who speaks all manner of languages!! Very good banana pancakes fed very starving bellies and made for a delicious start to the afternoon. We walked up a hill to a famous Buddha statue, unfortunately the forest fires made for hazy skies once more and our view was 'ruined' by this. However, we did get to see the local children swimming in the muddy waters of the Tom Lae Sap River ... disgusting!! Another banana pancake and a trip on a raft booked to Chiang Rai later ... we're ready for bed. Completely exhausted. We are staying in 'traditional' Thai huts though so a mossie net came in very handy!!
