Quite a lot of our time in Vietnam has been spent in or around cities, so getting back to nature on An Binh island for a few nights was a treat. It was so nice not to hear city noises for a few nights and remembering how relaxing nature can be, it's a shame that we didn't have a little longer to spend there just soaking it all up! There wasn't really much to 'see' or 'do' on the island, but we had a nice little cycle around through the little villages. Our place was really nice and they even provided a free bike shuttle from the ferry pier - a little bit scary with our big bags on (and when my guy decided he really needed to get back in a hurry!), but also a really nice touch.
Before we knew it though, we were back in Ho Chi Minh city, our last stop before our flight back to Bangkok. We only had 2 nights and achieved very little other than getting some washing done and picking up some new books. I think we're a bit city-ed out at the moment, so looking forward to getting back to Thailand and spending some time on the islands.
I think we say it everytime we leave a country, but it's amazing how quickly the time has gone. Vietnam has been so lovely, but the main travelling spots are big towns/cities which can get a little hard work. I think we've been a bit lack-lustre with the things we've chosen to do as well and might not have done everything on offer, but there are no regrets and no 'oh, I wish we'd done that', which can only be a good thing. I said to James the other day that it would be really cool to come back at some point and just travel inland hugging the Cambodia and Laos borders…but that's for another time. Definitely going to miss the staple Banh Mi's (pork, pate and veg baguettes!), but we're quietly excited about getting back to Thai cuisine!
So that's it, Vietnam over and out!
