The parks in Korea look a bit like the Chinese ones, I've explored them and went to a huge market on Wednesday and on Thursday I went to Gangnam district.
I've started my day on Wednesday by going to the Han river, which divides the city in the northern and southern part. I walked along the river for quite some time and I found out that they have perfect cycling lanes there. Too bad it's a bit from the Netherlands. The weather was perfect, so it looked very nice there.
Secondly I went to a park close to the center of Seoul, it was a park with some pavilions and their national museum was situated there. I went in there (because it was free), but it wasn't super interesting for me. Afterwards I took the subway to one of the old gates of the Seoul city wall and went to one enormous outdoor market, they had everything there. From clothes to food and from animals to souvenirs. I think I spent about an hour walking around. In the evening I went to another park, this one was located on an island in the Han river. From there I had a nice view of the skyline of Seoul at night.
Thursday morning's first hour I spent under ground. It took me that long by metro to go to the district called Gangnam. "Gang" means river in Korean and "nam" is south, so it means the district south of the river. This is the wealthiest district of Seoul and it's very modern. I went walking around there and stumbled upon the statue with the two hands from the PSI-song. Of course I couldn't resist taking a photo.
I also went to a park with many temples which were decorated with lanterns. On those lanterns people write riddles and it's up to other people to solve them. The same tradition exists in China, mainly just for the new year. It accounted for some great photos. In this park was also the bell that they ring at midnight during New Year's Eve. This usually comes on TV on the international channels.
Next I took the subway back to the city center area and went to some large indoor market. Again it is possible to get everything you need. Those markets here are amazingly large. Besides the market was another gate of the old Seoul city wall and part of the wall was still connected to it for a few kilometers. So I followed the wall uphill and after about two hours I got there and had a really good of the city and the N tower on the other side, which is also situated on a hill. Here I also spent some time to take some good panorama photos and night photos. So another good two days in Seoul!
