I got invited by a primary school to tell a bit about myself in English, I was hosting a New Year's show and I was interviewed afterwards by the local TV station as a promotion for the city and advertisement for the English school.

On Friday one of the elementary schools in Hanshan had their New Year's party with some performances of their students and teachers. Because some of the students who are going to this English school come from this elementary school, the English school was invited to also give a small show. Many of them had never seen a foreigner so they asked me to come on stage as well and to answer some questions about studying, traveling and China. Kind of like a small interview to let them know that there is a foreigner in town.

In the evening and on Saturday morning we had a few more classes to teach. At the same time some of the groups were practicing their performance for the show that they were having in the afternoon. When the classes were over I got to try a typical Chinese lunch prepared by Rosa's grandmother. The meat that I tried, although I have no idea what it was, was very good. Unfortunately I couldn't ask what it was because nobody there spoke English and Rosa was preparing for the show.

Then on Saturday afternoon was the New Year's show that Rosa and I were hosting. It was held in one of the school's auditorium and could fit 600 people. It was full of children, their parents and their grandparents. It was my first time hosting a show, but it was fun to do. It maybe wasn't like very good or special, because it was the first time, but it was definitely fun.

My last evening in Hanshan we went to a restaurant with about 20 people who were all working for the school. We had food on this table with a Lady Mary, which is this rotating glass plate in the middle of the table. We had different kinds of food and everything was local food and prepared in a special way. We also drank some special Chinese wine. It was more of a spirit than a wine because it was 42% wine.

So that's how I spend the last day of 2016 an then I went into the train back to Jinan and on the second of January my trip around eastern Asia starts!
