Rubbi and Nathan's Extended Honeymoon Travels...
So the wedding is over and I'm feeling depressed...okay can't feel sorry for too long as we've embarked on this fantastic journey. So New York's the first stop...its bloody expensive...good job we have the wedding money but that's not going to last very long here. New York takes a bit of getting used to. Nathan fell in love with it at first sight but I've taken a few days to get to like it.
It's totally true what they say...after a few days here wandering around you really feel as though you know it like your second home. Have done the whole touristy thing (which im not a massive fan of but you need to do it in order to get it out of the way)...so Times Square, Empire State etc. But by far and away the best bits have been meeting up with Millie (Amanda) and Rowan and Central Park.
First Millie...they live in the Village (Greenwich) and its totally cool...lots of hip, cool places and people...as you can imagine Nathan wasn't bowled over. They've seen heaps of famous people including Wentworth Miller, Hallie Berry and Robert Downey Jnr. They live around the corner from SJP...Nat wasn't very inconspicuous when he took a picture of her place!! Bleeker Street is a great place to meet people, view the shops and grab something to eat. Slightly over-priced but think its worth it. We also popped into Magnolia's - this is THE cupcake shop in NY (apparently)...its also the shop that SJP's character Carrie pops into in Sex and the City to grab cakes. They are open until 12am and there are often queues to get in...but again worth the wait.
Central Park...fantastic haven and getaway from the noise, pollution and disgusting stench that riddles NY. We hired a coupld of bikes from Metro Cycles on 88th and Lexington...very reasonable only $7/hr. Took us about 2 hours to ride around the entire park. It was fantastic...lots of people jogging and cycling but you still felt as though you were the only person there...highly advised.
Today we walked across Brooklyn Bridge from Manhatten...not really a whole heap to do when you get into Brooklyn but would advise the walk over as you get some awesome views of Manhatten from half way across the bridge.
Tomorow we start the Trek across the states...so as and when we manage to find another internet place we'll load up some piccies and get visual...P.S If you ever try to find an internet cafe in NY then good luck...there are very few. We've managed to find this random place in FedEx's dispatch building...
Anyway, missing you all...Stitch and Raj - I keep showing everyone and anyone the wedding pictures that you laminated for us...cheers.
