A Grand Tour of Greece With a Rubber Rat
Paxos to Corfu
Hi All! The big folk had an early start (Complete with hangover) we take the car to the harbour & leave it (will be collected later) & wait for the hydrofoil. We are well versed with Greek timing, so we take all three possible times, deduct 30 mins from the earliest and get there . The Hydrofoil turns up at a time of its own...We 'fly' to Corfu arriving in Corfu Town at 9am. Its good to be back here and we have all day here. This is a large but incredibly pretty Venetian town, best thought of as Venice without the flooded streets and that rather dodgy smell that always lingers in Venice - can't put my finger on what that is and we'd rather not try.. We enjoy a sunny day here, while having breakfast we are spotted by a couple who have just sailed from Paxos to Corfu on their Yacht & had seen us over there. We check the ferry is running at roughly the time they said and from approximately where they say it will go from (Never EVER believe anything you are told about ferry times/ departures or locations. Even be suspicious if they say they will be on the sea. Double-check everything and also make your own possibilities up)
We have a lazy late lunch to recover after tramping all over the town then check the internet at an internet café (The first we've seen in 8 days) as we walk down to Corfu port we bump into Tony again, he missed the Hydrofoil & caught the seaplane. He's flying direct Corfu - Norwich ,Whereas we're heading the long way to Italy to get into Stanstead the next day.
