A Grand Tour of Greece With a Rubber Rat
Eeek Eeeek! Yassas Pethia! Ti Kaneis? Its really hot here, too hot for a rubber rat really, about 28 deg!
We have all made our way down to Nafplion from Athens, a great trip by big train, little train and bus (Bus was packed so sat in the front with the driver!) Despite the heat the Greeks are all shivering in thick coats and scarves! Po-po-po! M & L get funny glances as the only ones in shorts and T-shirts!
Nafplion is super, an old Venetian town with a huge castle on the hill (Palamidi Fortress) and anothor out in the bay (Bourtzi). Our room at 'Demitritos Bekas' is at the top of about 200 marble steps! phew, but has the most amazing view over the harbour and the snow-capped mountains beyond, but I fell off the balcony this morning and have a sore head & a slightly buckled tail...ouch!
Been milling around the quirky streets leading up and down the marble cobbled streets. Nafplion is really up-market, its where all the wealthy Athenians go for the weekend, so as a slightly scruffy rubber rat I feel a bit self concious.
My adventures today included sitting in a formula 1 car, The new McLaren was here for a promotion.(got a bit of a glare from the bloke in charge though) I also tried driving a steam train, but it didn't go far, I don't think it was working.
L has had a haircut today, she always has her hair done in Greece as they make a better job than back home (our excuse for coming here so often) . The hairdresser wouldn't do mine though and called me ' a Mouse!' what an insult!! I'll have to ask M to give me a trim with his Gerber tool.
Ok, we're all going to try to get to either Monemvasia or Githia tomorrow which M says is a really tricky trip with lots of buses and trains involved so who knows where we'll end up! see ya later....Andio! el rodente
Jane, the wines only e1.50 a bottle here...Wahaaay!
