A lot of people told me: 'Welcome to Morocco!'
Of course I had already cycled one day, but that was along a national road and no that interesting. These last days I felt more like finding out what it is like to be in Morocco.
After visiting Asilah again I went on the road to the South. The weather was not that nice and there were some hills. I felt really like a sort of exotic animal that had escaped from a zoo, because almost every man that passed me looked at me. Not normal, like when you have a conversation, but they were more staring at me. I think because of my blond hair. In the evening I didn't felt comfortable to ask someone to pitch my tent in their garden and when I arrived in Moulay Bousselham, I saw a sign that told 'camping'. An excellent solution!
OMG! The next day I was stolen from my water bag. It happened in a small town, where the children just went out of school. I was cycling slow, because I had headwind and some kids started running with me. There was a hurdle of sheep and when I checked a wil hike later on a quiet spot, I saw my water bag was missing from the back of my bike. It is not that I really miss the thing, but I don't like the idea. So from now on I put everything inside my bags, where it is more difficult to steal it. The rest of the day I felt sad and couldn't really enjoy the nice views, although the weather became nicer and nicer. No matter what, I wanted to cycle to the next camping, instead of pitching my tent somewhere with the risk of being stolen again. So I had to cycle on to Kenitra and it became dark soon after I had pitched my tent.
The next day I wanted to sleep more, because the warmshower where I was going to stay was not that far away, but before my alarm went on, it was a sauna inside my tent. I felt better today and cycling went pretty good. I arrived early at Jean's house. We drank a nice cup of Moroccan tea and talked about travelling. He also gave me advise to follow the coastline instead of going to Marrakesh, because the views are nicer. I can go there later. After a shower Naima had cooked tasty eggs, tomato and pasta, that was really nice.
The next morning Jean and I went to the grave from the former Kings in Rabat. It was beautiful to see the symmetric art everywhere. After that we cycled together out of Rabat and from there on I went on by myself after saying him goodbye. He, Naima and her mom were good company! The way to Casablanca was pretty easy, because there's only one road to follow. In Casablanca I visited the big Mosque on the beach. Beautiful! The traffic in Casablanca is really crazy. People go and don't look, it's strange there wasn't an accident somewhere on my way. I even got cut off by a car, but luckily I have good brakes. After I arrived at the house of Patrick and Valérie, I took a fast shower, because we went to French friends to watch the election results. They were talking to fast in French for me to understand, but they are kind people and we had a good evening.
Monday was my day to rest from all the previous days (I have already cycled 4831,3 km!) and to prepare for the ones that will come. I slept in a really nice and soft bed, updated a lot of photos, this blog, read my book and even did some crochet. ad a good evening.
