Well we've finally made it to Sydney!
We're with Jo's very accommodating Uncle and Aunt, who we are going to the Opera house with tonight to watch a Ballet (not Robert or my first choice, but apparently I need some culture). Today we are doing some housekeeping and relaxing in Manly.
Since we left Byron bay, we've travelled through Coff's harbour and the mutton bird Island with its spectacular views and borrowing birds, through to Numbucca heads, where it rained all day so we found a good campsite with TV, and watched a real bond film. We also met some Aussie miners who we helped stay drunk, and bounced on a huge air pillow.
The coast has had fantastic views with mountains on the left hand side, where we travelled through to Dorrigo. At the Dangar falls we encountered a Red Belly black snake(they have very logical names in Oz) on the path, a little screaming took place, followed by a visit to the sweet shop. Port Macquarie was next on the list and this pleasant little seaside town was a good stop over. South West Rocks was a great picnic stopover where we saw sea eagles catching fish and old ladies taking photos of crows.
Port Stephens, or Nelson bay was a brilliant next day destination where we travelled through the wine fields and the great lakes area, having dinner at little beach with the pelicans. Sand boarding through the dunes was brilliant, and I didn't realise that Jo enjoyed eating sand.
The next day was Newcastle and the drive where all major Welsh cities were passed through, and then off to Wiseman ferry on the Hawksbury river, an interesting drive where the gorge corners at 5 km/hr tested Jerry the van to its limits.
Yesterday was all about sydney starting with teh stunning Ferry trip through the harbour past the Opera house. We toured through the botanic gardens and teh CBD to the Darling harbour. Lots of sights and walking so enjoy the photos.
Keep your eyes on the prize...
Roy and Jo
