Wow! So the time did finally come!
We said our goodbyes and got on the plane, the flight turned out to be a result as we had a extra seat next to us, still didnt manage to get any sleep!
We got off the plane and the heat hit us, very humid and sticky. We then caught a bus to Hong Kong island which went well until we had to get off and find the hostel! We ended no where near the hostel and not many of the chinese could speak English to give us directions however one Chinses gentleman over heard us asking the police man and walked with us to the hostel. Carrying that bag in that heat felt more like an endurance test! (but Rox didnt moan much)
The hostel ended upbeing in a great location, Causeway Bay. The room was cosy and having a shower standing over the toilet is always practical?
So we had a mission around the city, went to the Peak, went to Kennedy Road (where Jay use to live) went over to Kowloon on the Star Ferry, once in Kowloon we walked down to the ladies market and Night market. All along the streets, every other shop is selling their local food or is a resturant so walking past dried fish all day puts you off eating. We popped into a supermarket, had a little nosey around......they have LIVE fish in tanks behind the counters! When we walked through the local markets, they have the fish flapping around on trays of ice waiting for either someone to buy them or die, which ever comes first. Thats why we didnt try any of the local food!
I was also shocked by thier pet shops, they have puppies & kittens for sale in little glass boxes in the windows.
We both found Hong Kong to be VERY clean, stinks of food and in September the weather is uncomfortable.
