Arrived in Athens just after midday. After taking the bus in to the city as the metro line to the airport wasn't working we made our way to our hotel. It was located in what Nat and I call the Hardware district as every shop around our hotel was a hardware store. The place was nice enough, but after Venice nothing would be able to compare. It did however have a balcony with a view of the acropolis, as well as a rooftop bar that had the same view so that was nice.

We walked around a bit and it was quite dirty, as well as crazy drivers. We sat and had some lunch and as we were reading a tourist book we found out that tonight was the only night of the year that the Acropolis is open at night for the full moon, as well as it being free.

So that night we hiked up and watched the sunset and then the moon rise from atop the Acopolis, very lucky that the first night we are there we luck out with something like that.

After a few hours we went back to our hotel and had a beer up on the rooftop before calling it a night.

Aug 7

Just basically wondered around all day in and out of shops. Nat was looking to buy some sandals but could find any she like (that were reasonably priced anyway)

That night we had an early dinner and went to be early as we had to be up at 2:30am for our flight to Santorini.
