Finally did get some sleep, only to be woken by someone phoning me at 1.30am. What is this? I hardly ever get phone calls, then 2 in the middle of the night in quick succession. Managed to get some sleep after that, but not great. Phoned Mum early doors to check that it wasn't her who had phoned, it wasn't, so it's a mystery. I just hope they don't try again tonight, I really need a good night's sleep.
As I was awake, I thought I might as well get up & get going, so I checked out and hit a supermarket on my way out of Napier to get some fruit and breakfast bars, hoping to keep something down and get some sustenance in me. Seems to have worked, thank god!
Decided to break up the drive to Wellington by going via Palmerston North, which is about half way, to see the Musuem of Rugby. As the roads were fairly easy, (I seem to have got away from the worst of the tortuousness, for the time being anyway) it was a nice break and it was an interesting couple of hours on the history of Rugby in NZ. They have masses of memorabilia, but it's all laid out really nicely and concisely. What's also nice is the sections on women's rugby and the acknowledgement that the womens team in NZ have been probably more successful than the mens' team!
The drive down to Wellington was ok and got here mid afternoonish, and was very pleased to see my hotel is a proper hotel. Oh thank the lord and here's to a good nights' sleep!!! Had a successful afternoon, in that I managed to book my ferry crossing to Picton, sort out the hire car for the South Island, book a Lord of the Ring's tour for tomorrow and I have confirmation of my US flight from LA to Tampa. Have decided to cut my trip short and go home after staying with sis in Florida, partly because I've spent more than I should and also because I am getting homesick and getting tired of living out of a case and not being in one place for more than a couple of days. I think in future I will have shorter trips, with a better balance between travelling and chilling.
Spent the rest of the evening updating the blog - have found some way to fill the empty evenings in NZ!! Am actually hungry for the first time in a few days, so will get some tea and then bed. Tour starts at 8.30am tomorrow, but luckily the pickup is right outside the hotel! Yeah!

Bry Rena, part of me wants to say don't cut short your trip as it sounds like you are having an amazing time, but the other part of me understands. I am enjoying vicariously living through you on this trip that I actually dont want it to end as i enjoy reading the updates and have learnt alot. Take care and enjoy every moment of it.
