Another gentle drive today, down to Te Anau, which is a couple of hours drive down to the Fiordlands, where you can access Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound. Stopped off on the way at this lovely little café, right in the middle of nowhere, for a fab muffin and coffee and then got to Te Anau.
My hotel is right by the lake and for the first time in the south island, I don't have a balcony or a very good view, which is a bit of a shame really, was getting very used to having cups of tea on my balcony and admiring the views, which have been many and splendid!! Still, it's not a bad hotel, so I'm not complaining.
Had a wander around the main street of the town and down to the lakeside, which didn't take too long and booked up my trips to Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound, both are day long treks involving coaches and boats, but I'm looking forward to them, especially being a passenger, so I can enjoy the scenery. You know, I think I've been on more boats on this trip that I have been on in my life - and I'm really not that fond of water travel! Found a great little shop called "Miles Better Pies" and had a venison pie, there are quite a lot of venison farms around NZ, which was great, absolutely chock full of venison and no gristly bits, best pie I've had in ages!
Spent some time updating my blog, but getting it online is proving tricky, as internet (free or otherwise) is not always forthcoming in NZ I've learnt, so will maybe have to hit the foyer where there is apparently free wifi later & see what I can get uploaded.
