Today we set off with Jenny and Vic to stay for 3 nights in their cabin in the mountains. To fortify ourselves for the long journey (98 miles), we started with an all American breakfast at Country Waffles and after many refills of coffee set off for Groveland which is just outside Yosemite. Next stop was the Ghiradelli chocolate outlet shop where Vic enjoyed a chocolate croissant!
We arrived at the cabin which is on Pine Mountain Lake surrounded by trees. A cabin gives the wrong impression, since the house is considerably bigger than their house in Livermore and very luxurious. It even has its own dumb waiter electric luggage lift! Vic and I worked on replacing a couple of outside panels which had been removed to deal with a leak whilst Jenny and Sue went shopping nearby for groceries. The peace and air are wonderful, most of us forget what quiet sounds like!
The trees are too tall for satellite dishes to work so no TV or Internet. We spent the evening watching "Passport to Pimlico", an Ealing Studios classic on a DVD. They don't make them like this anymore.
