We only had a few days in Mumbai before we headed down to Goa but we think that was long enough for our first time in India! We hired a taxi for a day to do a tour of the city which meant we could see a lot in one day! We saw the gateway of India which was really impressive as well as Mumbai beach (not so impressive as other beaches we've been to but we have been spoiled so far), the national museum, and some really nice parks! Everywhere was really busy and your hard pushed to get any time on your own and we really do stick out like sore thumbs! The roads are absolutely mental and probably the thing that will stick in our minds most from Mumbai! We were clinging on for our lifes in the car from the airport to the hotel because the roads and traffic was so mental and that was at 2am! A typical road has two lanes with at least five lanes of traffic cramed onto them and the traffic consits of the most random things! Its no longer a surprise to see a camel walking down the road, a cow sitting happily on a roundabout or a family of 5 and their dog on a motorbike! The hotel we stayed at was nice and the manager was really helpful so we managed to get used to everything pretty quickly considering how different everything is!
