After a 13 hour bus ride from Byron Bay we all were extremely tired and could not wait for our beds. We booked into our hostel in the middle of Sydney around 10am and went straight for the showers and then hit the sack for a little nap. We woke up to Ross Matthews phone ringing and was very happy to see that it was one of the lads (Sal) he had met on Koh Samui, Thailand while Brad was in hospital. Soon after Sal came and picked us up in his car and took us for a little drive around the city showing us the best places to go etc. That evening we just chilled out and watched a movie due to us being shattered.
The next day we got up and had a walk around town looking for fancy dress as it was the day of the Royal Wedding, and I can officially say Sydney has no fancy dress shops. Disaster! Ross and Brad soon left the other Ross as they had their Harbour Bridge Climb in the afternoon. The climb was absolutely amazing. The first bit was the scariest due to the floor being gridded so you could see straight down, but once you got onto the main structure it was fine. We climbed at 3pm and the whole tour takes around 3 hours so we got the day time and twilight views. The views from the top were incredible, you can see for miles. We didn't have the best weather for it, a bit overcast but it meant we saw a perfectly circular rainbow beneath us which is apparently very rare to see. Even some of the instructors at the top hadn't even seen one before so we were quiet privileged. After the climb we went back to the hostel and got ready for the big wedding. We started playing the Royal Wedding drinking game, it was hilarious. Too long to explain over blog so I'll explain when we get back. That night we went out into town and had an awesome night J
The next morning we were all feeling it, self inflicted so we weren't complaining too much. We jumped on a bus and headed to the world famous Bondi beach. The weather was okay but definitely not swimming weather so we had a walk around and took some pictures. If the weather was hot the beach would be amazing. The surf is big and the sand is lovely, you can see why it was voted the best thing to do in Australia. We soon headed back on the bus and stopped off at the Sydney Opera House to get a few pictures of the harbour. We then jumped on the train as we were in a rush to get back to our hostel, we were meeting Sal and his mates to go and watch a rugby match which excited Brad as you can imagine. The home team, New South Wales Waratars spanked The Melbourne Rebels 28-9. So everyone was happy, the atmosphere in the stadium was electric. A very good night to finish off our time in Australia.
Overall Australia has been amazing, we have seen so many good things and met some awesome people along the way. They do need to lower the prices on everything though, it's ridiculously expensive now there currency has got very strong.
