We left Exmouth this morning on our way to Point Samson and decided to spend a night in a free camp rather than a Roadhouse. The Free Camp was very large with plenty of tracks going off into the bush so that those who wanted to could be alone. We like to stay in reasonable distance to the toilets and have other people in sight, we feel safer that way. I would say there were at least 50 caravans there that night. Carnarvon has been a restful five day stop over on the way to Exmouth. We are camped on lovely green lawn with amenities close by and 25c during the day. The staff and fellow travellers are all very nice and staying here is a pleasure. Carnarvon is the food bowl for WA and supplies 70%of WA vegies and fruit. Seems a lot, but not when you see the amount of orchards and market gardens. There is plenty of fresh food available, unfortunately you can only buy so much...

Denham (375KM) is our next stop. Denham is the main town for the Shire of Shark Bay area with a population of 600+ people. The tourist industry - which functions mainly from April until September- witnesses an influx of over 250,000 people passing through the Shire on the main North West Coastal Highway of which approx 110,000 actually come into the communities including Denham and Monkey Mia.
