Another long day of walking and looking with my host family. This time to an open air museum called Ballanberg. This museum has about 100 buildings from the 1500's to 1900's that have been relocated from all over Switzerland. In the summer time it is open to the public and the hold workshops to show different crafts-weaving, black smithing, wood carving, cheese making etc.
it was very interesting to see the history of this country, half of my heritage. Such simple, rough ways of living. I can't really imagine how hard a life it would have been, being a cow herder up in the alps. The old technology still works after hundreds of years, the hydro powered saw and flour mills. The thatched roof was very impressive, looked like a lot of work but very effective.
