The new job was pretty fantastic, was working for a diet company called 'Jenny Craig' and my role was just to get clients on board who had put in an enquiry on the website basically, the office was lovely.. so new and modern and had my own little desk with a shiny new mac computer- loved it! The girls were really nice and was really settling in there, especially as the money was really good. Had a really exciting month coming up as well so me and all the girls were very excited for our upcoming plans of music festivals and fast cars...
FUTURE MUSIC FESTIVAL.. was awesome. The weather had been and bit up and down over the week leading up to the festival so we were slightly concerned another thunder storm was going to strike us down but alas we were blessed and bright sunshine came our way! Me and Amy got up and made ourselves a vodka bunch to kickstart us in the right direction and then headed off to meet the girls at Flinders station (which is beautifully demonstrated in the picture above) Anyway, it was Nat, Sting, Lauren, Amy and some of Stingray's friends from AFL (Australian football league) got on our train and headed off to the venue. It was already packed when we got there, did a classic bag search then we were IN! Sting decided the only way to get our barings would be for her to jump into the map- didnt work and we went off to find the drinks and a good spot.. The day basically consisted of us watching loads of pretty decent acts- jessie j, tinie tempah, chase&status, fatboy slim and swedish house mafia were probably the highlights. Tinie tempah was epic, we were all together and met a random group of lads, lots of everyone getting on everyones shoulders, jumping up and down getting stupidly squished and just screaming our lives away.. I asked Sting if I could get on her shoulders and lose my being on someones shoulders at a festival virginity and realised although its fun and you get a great view, its terrifying. Definatly thought I was going to knock my teeth out all over again as Sting was wasted and I was very high up in the air. Anyway, nothing was broken and we had a great time. Although, poor Amy got hit on the head with a bottle and that kind of ruined the rest of her day so that was a downer :( Through fatboy slim we just found a place a bit further back from the main crowd with food and drink and sat and listened while talking adequant amounts of rubbish when the free stuff started coming.. sportsgirl which is an aussie clothing brand and actually pretty decent handed out lollypops, raincoats, keys and hats so I decided I needed EVERYTHING I could possibly get and sat there in a raincoat (it wasn't raining) a straw hat eating a lollypop and holding a key until I decided the novalty had worn off then I went back to normal. A few of the girls left before the Sweeds came on stage but Lauren, Nat & me stayed with the guys we had met at tinie tempah and shacked out to sweidsh house mafia.. they were amazing and a suitably awesome end to a pretty epic day. Of course, we hadn't had enough by this point so Lauren & I went and met Sting and her pals at the gay bar along the river and after spending way too much money and ending the night in macdonalds we crashed and burned. Thank God the next day was a bank holiday because I got to have a huge lie in and do nothing all day.. great times.
Then the back luck follows.. I have a theory that I've been cursed and the 11th of every month something bad happens, this month the 11th was future and the only bad thing for me was my bag broke so I feel my curse has decided to take the weekend off and strikes me a few days later. I got into work early as usual and my boss Sue comes over to me and explains that the new big boss has made cuts and they're letting go about 30 people, as I was a newbie I get to go first. Fantastic. Massive, massive bummer. Next couple of days I was back to job hunting and wanting to kill myself from the tedious task of being on seek and handing out CV's in town and decided I wasn't going to let a small matter of being jobless stop me from having my already planned epic weekend. Paddys day and the F1, as if I was going to miss out.
Saturday was an awesome day, had my green dress on in occasion for the day of St.Pad and we headed off down Yarra river with all the gang to use their public BBQ's and celebrate Aussie style! Cider was of course out and we had way too much food as usual, I ended up eating about a million kebabs..opps. Anyway, after hours in the sun it started getting late so we made the lovely walk back to my apartment, got our gladrags on and started playing games with a bottle of vodka to hand.... Before we even left the apartment, Lauren's new flatmate who had joined us for the day threw up and passed out on our sofa- clear indication the night was going to be messy. Amy, Lauren & myself ended up going out anyway and the night in a nutshell was pretty much dancing around in an Irish bar until 3am, realising we wern't ready to go home and spending the rest of the night in a strip club, coming home at 7am for me to wake up poor Amy (she left a bit earlier than us) throwing her matress across the bedroom because she said her bed had broken and obviously I'm amazing at fixing beds at 7 in the morning and going on a huge search around the apartment for my Paddy's day giant guiness hat which turned out to be right in front of me.
Next day, we got up about 11am, very little sleep for me but it had to be done because we were all of to the Grand Prix!!! Another amazingly beautiful day in Melbs and I was surprisingly not that hungover which is a massive bonus after the amount of money I spent on the ticket! Sting & Jess had arrived a little before us so once we got into the park where the event was being held and went for a massive walk around the track before we found the girls who had found a pretty decent spot. The sound the cars made during the practice (which is what was going on when we arrived) was insane, so so loud it felt like it could burst your eardrums.. loads of sensible people had earplugs in which I would of done if I was even slightly organised but no, just had to take on the noice. We pretty much just sat in the sun waiting for the race which started at 5, after going for a little walk around, seeing an amazing line up of old cars, getting drinks and some food and then all took turns on Sting's shoulders when the race started to get some decent pics of the cars! Button won the race, wooohoo go on Britain! So, for us that was awesome, watched the ceremony and then saw an act called 'The Crusty Demons' which were appartley world famous motorcycle riders- they did lots of flips and stuff in the air which was pretty impressive but as the sun went down it started getting a bit chilly so we decided to go over to the festival part which was the other side of the track.. walked on the actual track which we thought was amazingly cool but the novelty wore off quickly. The festival was called 'side-tracked' and was a lot of perfomers I'd never heard of and the headliner was Flo River who of course we stayed to see.. Me and Sting thought it was hilarious, the ending of every song had a big dramatic crash at the end and when he attempted to sing I felt I needed the earplugs more than when the cars were racing! Anyway, he did do all of his decent songs and was really good fun. That finished about 11pm and by then we were all dead to the world from previous antics so headed on home, well.. Amy & I made a pitt stop at maccers and stuffed our faces back at the apatment before completely passing out.
Next morning, I got up all ready to do more job hunting- the thought of it was horrible but had to be done if I want to stay in Melbourne.. after the last few weekends I want to stay more than ever! So, got myself dressed and ready and when I had a sneaky peak on facebook I saw that my friend Edwina from Jenny Craig had written to me and explained her friend needed a temp receptionist. Obviously I jumped at the chance, even though it was temp, it would give me money for the next few weeks while I carried on looking.. so rang her friend and she asked me to come in that day! So, I'm currently working in the head office of a fashion retail store called milu which is actually really fun and I'm hoping they will keep me on for longer but we will see.. That week was pretty much taken up with working, only a 4 day week so on the Friday I went and met Stingray for lunch at her work which did the most amazing salads and then went on a little shopping trip down Chapel St and ended up buying myself a lovely little black dress in preparation for Nat's birthday celebrations that weekend! Amy's friend Hannah from home had also joined us by this point and the plan that night was to go to a house party of some people Amy knew, so that we did. The party was ok, think it was the kind of thing where if you knew people it would of been a lot more fun but by like midnight it got pretty empty so Lauren and I left and I ended up crashing at hers just because it was so much closer. Next morning we got up and dresse and back to mine and then met Nat to go for birthday hot chocolate and cake at the famous Benetti's cake shop in Lygon Street. We got there and the selection of cakes was amazing, like everything you could possibly think of was there. I ended up getting the most AMAZING chocolate cake, it like melted in your mouth with every bite- so incredible. I have to use every single bit of will power to not go and eat there every day! The hot chocolate was also pretty epic, basically we stuffed our faces and were very happy bunnies. Then it was back to mine to get glammed up and to start on the drinks. Everyone made loads of effort which was really nice, hadn't got glammed up with a nice dress and heels since leaving the UK so was especially awesome even though I ended up looking slightly like a ballarina but never mind.. We went to a club called Baroq House which is a really fancy bar in the middle of the city, Nat had managed to get us on guestlist and get her own private booth (her personal trainer knows someone there I think) and had a really amazing night. Lots of people got way to drunk and by the end it was just Nat, a guy called Dave we met at future fest and me dancing stupidly and taking crazy pictures in the photo booth which was there- probably spent half my money just in photos but never mind! That's kind of it for Melbourne so far.. Will update when more interesting stuff happens :)
