Road Trip to Narooma
We hired a car - well a little truck almost - for the drive down to Narooma. This is a small coastal town about 360km south of Sydney. It was good to get out of the city for a few days and the purpose of the journey was to meet Phil's relatives (Brenda and Martin, Aunt and Uncle) who were very hospitable. We saw possums and lots of lovely parrots and birds that came to feed at their bird table.
On the way back, we detoured to Canberra - the capital and met up with Phil's cousin who took us on a whistlestop tour of the National Australia Museum and the war memorial - very impressive and all quite Soviet Socialist Realist Architecture.
Phil's cousin, Sue and her husband Rob, treated us to a barbie which turned into a comedy of errors. They ran out of gas for the barbie, we broke one of their deck chairs and their dogs stole and eat a huge chunk of fillet lamb meant for us.
Back in Sydney now and countdown to Mardi Gras on Saturday begins. We are hoping that rain doesn't stop play (yes, apparently it often does!)
