G'Day, G'Day
I last spoke to you about Noosa. They had a surfing competition on in town when we were there. This meant that all the best surfers in the country descended on the town. This meant that they all wondered the streets in very little clothes talking about their "Boards" and "Bro's". This meant that I gained a renewed interest in surfing.
Ian, Phil and I are currently in Bryon Bay - a sort of hippy town on the East Coast of Oz. All the guys wander around barefoot and topless. It's also very distracting. I keep my top on for Health and Safety reasons. My lower arms have gone brown but the rest of me is still pink and might frighten the locals.
Despite the worst drought in living memory, we bring rain to all our destinations. It's raining here today. I am surprised that they don't greet us in a new city with open arms and garlands. The rivers are LOW! They are enforcing all kinds of water restrictions in Queensland for example. The authorities seem to have ignored my suggestion that all the cutes guys should have to shower in public open air communal showers.
I went to Brisbane's "Big Gay Day Out" on Sunday. Leo Sayer was headlining. This was not Mardi Gras. It consisted of the sectioned off piece of car park with a stage by a pub. Now we know why he wrote the lyrics "When the money runs out, what will we do?"
It was also Brisbane's hottest day - 38 degrees. So I didn't last long standing in a sweaty car park with lots of teenagers and 50+ year olds (there is often a missing generation in the smaller towns - I think they b***** off somewhere else - mostly London).
We are chilling out. Which involves wondering around looking at cute guys and eating nice food. So not much wildlife or amazing scenery to talk about - we've kinda had our fill of that for now. It's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it.
I found out that Dr Who Series 3 starts BEFORE I get back to the Uk. The BBC maliciously decided to start it earlier than Easter (as I had reckoned). So much for second-guessing Aunty Beeb! This means that either I re-book my flight to be back in time for the first episode of the new series or I stay here...
...gotta go check out the beach and that may help me make up my mind... ;-)
