Rohin goes around the world
Well it a pretty easy to get over to London. Went to Basel in Switzerland by train and walked around there for a few hours then on a Plane and here I was.
Im staying with Hamish and Zarda at the moment right near the Abbey rd crossing, made famous by the Beatles. Every day I have to cross the crossing and I rekon every time I end up in some tourists photo with their friend crossing it too. Gee what a shot that would make.
Anyway first night I went out for dinner with Phil and Beckey, a couple I met in Turkey. Was great to see them and the meal and beers went down a treat. Although it seems my drinking speed is out the door as I was constantly trying to keep up with Phil. Hope to have this fixed by this weekend.
It was a bit of a shock being in a contry where I could undersntand people, the announments on the train, read the billboards and even the newspaper. I found myself reading everything I could and tuning in to other peoples conversations. I also found myself ordering and thanking people in German. Hmm got to stop that.
So my first day was a big one I got up early and headed to Westminster area and walked around seeing everything. Took a ride on the London Eye, then continued down the river taking detours along the way to see the sights till I got to London Tower Bridge. By this time id walked a good 10kms and was pretty stuffed, so I decidd to stop the sight seeing and went to the market area and watch a few street performers to fill in some time. They are everywhere here so there is plenty of entertainment going around.
So we ate in last night, my cooking which apparently was good and today im going to take it a bit easy. This is the first country where the cinema is in English that ive been in so I think I may go and catch a file. Hmm what to see. Anything I suppose, as long as its in English I dont care
The great thing about London is that there are train, or tube stations bloody everywhere. You can just walk around without a map, see heaps of old s*** and when your over it there is bound to be a station right near you so in minutes your in a whole new area doing it again. The other great thing is that every thrid building is a pub, and thats no joke. You can stop for a beer everywhere!! Its brilliant.
I suppose the sucky thing is the cost of it all, but who gives a rats. You only live once!!
