Well Its been a great 3 day so far on Kellie and my ABC (Another Bloody Castle) tour. Also can be used as Another Bloody Church. I booked a car online at 1am in the morning to pick up from Offenburg train station that day. 150€ for 4 days, meant to be a Ford Opal as I remember. Got a call about 15min later from head office saying unless we were on a trian we had to go to the main office, no big drama so that was fine. We got to the main office and signed the papers and got handed the key and told our car is to the left. As we walked out I looked at the key ring and said to Kellie "um I think we are looking for a Merc" Sure enough we had a little A class Mercedes with onboard navigation system and 6th GEAR!!! Now that meant had to get this baby on the Autobarn! so off we head, put Trier in the city destination and fastest route possible. A few turns later and I stall in the center of an intersection and the Nav gives me a reminder "Please remain on the right hand side of the road", Brilliant!!! 15min later I noted that we looked as if we were approacing Strasbourg which is a city in France. Sure enough we arrive in France. Seconds later the onboard nav puts up a message saying it does not work in this country and will switch off in 15mins. Right so we are in France on some motor way with no Nav and lukily we had decided to get a paper map as well. Few hours later and some confusion at the toll station (yep held up some cars there) and we were back in Germany with Nellie (what we called the Nav system) one again informing us of where to go. So we got to Trier and found some accom and headed out for a walk around town. Ok finding the accom was becoming painfull as we were lost untill I remembered we could also put streets into Nellie. Way to go, got to get me one of these back home. Trier was nice but nothing compared to the Moselle river. Had some issues getting on the tourist route as Nellie kept leading us to the motorway. so after she asked me repeadidly to make a U turn at the next possible moment we gave her a rest and did it the old fashioned way, Guessed. It was a beautiful drive with heaps of Castles and churches and the nicests towns ive ever seen. Green either side with grape vines pretty much the whole way. Stopped at one Castle for a look beside the river and then headed for a fiary tale castle which was just stunning. Pretty sure its the one that Walt Disney baised his on, you can judge for yourself once I get the pics on. Finding it was pretty hard as all the signs wanted you to park and take a buss but since we Had Mac (name for our merc) and Nellie we just did some exploring and guessing till we arrived there. From here it was off to Koblenz for our night in a Fortruss. Yep hostel in a fortruss looking over the city. Boring city but great view from our resturant that night and a few beers before off to a room full of snoorers. A chalf cutter would have been quite compared to this lot. So not much sleep and off down the Rhine river today to see some more castles. Saw a few and one we could fully explore so that was great. Did the Rhine quicker than we thought so we decided to drive over to Heidelburge where we are now for a night out. Its a big Uni town so instead of the Hostel out of town we have paid a bit more for a hotel right near all the bars. Hmm should be lots of fun. Ok, I think its beer Oclock so im going to go and wake Kellie up and hit the bars.
