Had a leisurely morning, left the kids to sleep in while Shirley and I had some breakfast in a sidewalk cafe soaking up Paris. Today was Lourve day, which having done it is more akin to a day in Ikea as far as your legs and feet are concerned.
Shirley made it all the way in through the queues only to bail, opting to stroll the streets of Paris and as I found out later, slipped in a little shopping along the way :/
Regardless, the kids and I were determined to see as much as we could in the 7 hours we had available. Well it quickly became apparent that is was a mammoth task, not only in qty of exhibits but in physical size and distance. The Lourve is friggin huge!
Ok here are some stats to get your head around this:
The Lourve is one of the worlds largest museums. It occupies nearly 100 acres of land with over 35000 exhibits in 60,000 square meters of floor space. It's rumored that if you wanted to spend 30 secs appreciating every exhibit it would take you nearly a month to see it all.
We lasted a sum total of 4 hours before the legs gave out. We saw all the main popular items like old Mona, the Egyptian crypts and heaps more really cool stuff, which was just fine.
Dispute the fact that no cameras/pics were allowed ,almost everyone there was taking pics, so I joined in the fun.
Tomorrow the girls are off shopping while Henry and I are going to hire a scooter and whip around Paris - cant wait.
