All right. My 11 day tour from Darwin to Alice Springs
SO... I left Sydney finally. Arrived in Darwin, where it is hot and humid. I was liking it..... but not loving it.
So Day 1..... We left Darwin around 7am by the time we picked everyone up and checked into the tour. Then were on our way to LItchfield national park. I got to sit in the front of the 4wd vecihle, and the guide was not so bad to look at either! So we carried on the long drive around the country side, stopped at Floerence Falls, went swimming twice there, once in the pools, and once at the top of the falls. It was beautiful, and hot, so that was a nice cool down. Then we headed towards our camp site for the night, and on the way stopped at Mary's River for a cruise along the billabong, were i got to see soem wildlife, and found my new flower of choice. The accomadation was good.... permanent tents, so thank god for my sleeping bag.
Day 2 was up early again, and other long drive. Today we enter Kakadu National park, it was along dirt road, and then off to some swimming holes at Makuk. Again it was so nice, and the swimming was so awesome.... even if there was the possibitly of freshies in the water. Nobody cared, and nobody got eaten! Then we visited Ubirr, which is where some of the movie Crocodile Dundee was filmed, and watched sunset!
Day 3 Well this was really early morning, 430 on the bus by 530, and to twin falls by 7. So that we were the first bus to get there and see the falls and get pics without ppl in them, so i say thank you to the guide. it was more special with less tourists. Also went to Jim Jim falls, whicj actually was not running at the time, dry season. And had the chance to go swimming, but decided that the water was a little to green for me! Then is was the long drive back to Darwin to start the next bit of the tour.
Day 4 Drove to Katherine, where we had the option of hiking, canoeing, or a rivier cruise,..... I did the river cruise, it was about 37 that day, and I like not to get to dehydrated. And finally some Canadians in my paths.
Day 5 Drove to Tennent Creek, stopped along the way many times. The Hot springs at Elsey National park, and Daly Waters. There is this pub there.... thats about all thats there, and it was so cool, to bad its so hot there... they were looking for a cook. Hahaha.
Day 6 Drove to Devil's Marbles, these are very fun rocks to play around and be creative with pictures. Then the rest of the time was driving to Alice Springs. The whole group went to Bojangles for dinner which was nice, and had some beers and to bed early.
Day 7 was to my leisure in Alice Springs, so i went to the Reptile center, and did some laundry and just hung around for the day. Nothing to exciting.
Now for the next 3 days I was upgraded.
Day 8 Stopped at Stuart Wells, to have camel rides if you so wanted. It was a rip off of course so I did not. $5 to go in a circle..... And they smell bad! Stopped at a look out for Mt. Connor aka fool aroo.... And stopped at a roadhouse called Curtian Springs, large cattle station. Then we stopped at camp, and off to Katajuta. Where we hiked the valley of winds. And then had sunset at Uluru. And yes some bubbly was included... it was so nice. Also had dinner, with wine, there was no particapation cooking and cleaning up it was so nice! And it was my first night in the SWAG... i want one for in Canada. It was so great, warm and nice to sleep under the stars.
Day 9 Watched the sunrise at Uluru, and then did the base walk. It was suppose to take 3 hrs... did it in 2... But I really had to pee along the way. Then back to camp for lunch, packed up and started to King's Canyon. We went for a small 4wd drive to a Salt lake, and got stuck... it was good fun. Then when we stopped at King's Creek we had a flat tire. Also the rain came.... it was so heavy but did not last long, Then all night it would rain, and stop. Then I could not decide to sleep in the swag or not.... but I did! and it did not rain on me. I also convinced Helen from the UK, to try it to.... she loved it!
Day 10 We drove to King's Canyon and did the Cliff rim walk, it was steep at first, and i thought that i may not make it but i did. And im so glad that i did! It is so wonderful to look around and see so far! Did the whole top, and walked down into the Garden of Eden, where once again you could swim.,.... but i chose not to. Back to camp for lunch, and met up with the other group for some of the passengers to go back to Alice Springs. And we continued on the Glen Helen, when the real fun started. Since there was only 5 of us and the guide.... we could do what ever we wanted... so...... we played a game. There are these melons that grow everywhere.... so we stopped and got a few for everyone, and would throw them at the road signs.... lets just say i have terrible aim and hit nothing, but it was so fun. Also had to meet up with some boys that were bringing us our new spare tire just in case. We saw some brumby's and chased them.... lol my idea! Then arrived at Glen Helens for some beer and to pick up some supplies for our night of bushcamping by the river.
Day 11 Today we slept in. And had really only one great stop along the way back to Alice Springs, Palm Valley, where only this species of palm grows in the world. It also turned out to be our guides bday. So on the way back to AS we ran out of gas.... literally coasted into the servo, and still had to call the office to get the mechanics out to help start it again.... silly diesel. And once agian the group went out for dinner after, okay it was me and the lovely swiss girls and Steve the guide. But was still fun.... Then continued to Bojangles again. To indulge in even more booze!
